Abbott

Now I know that Abbot Diagnostics have been bought be GE (Report here) but I think it’s going to be a while before the name changes, if ever.
A colleague recently went on a training course sponsored by Abbot. It was for trainees and grade 1’s and covered a wide variety of information. In [...]

Siemens

Thjis is the new name for anything provided by either DPC or Bayer, as Siemens have bought both companies.  I think in the case of Bayer, they only bought the diagnostic division. The following is the link to the diagnostic section of their site.

Company Sites

I thought it might be a good idea to start to find useful stuff provided by companies within the Biomedical Science world.  At work I have started to tie together various different resources for our trainees so they can get the technical and clinical information behind each test.  This was done with the companies we [...]

No More needles into the womb?

Another story in the New Scientist, this one is about a blood test during pregnancy which can diagnose fetal genetic disorders.  The big advantage over the current method, amniocentesis, is that it doesn’t raise the risk of miscarriage.
